Prompt 03: 🔍 Un-accomplished Hope and Fear

Day 3 and still going strong! Let’s get this done😊

P.S. I use prompts from The Journal Prompt newsletters since I enjoy reading them!

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive -to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” – Marcus Aurelius

After I finished university, I was really keen on doing a PhD in food memoirs. But I faced rejection after rejection because, even though I adored reading food memoirs, I just couldn’t pinpoint what I wanted to research for my thesis. Instead of giving up, I took a different route and went to Delhi to prepare for the civil exams. It turns out that wasn’t the right path for me. During my solo travels, I stumbled upon a new subject and ended up pursuing an MSc in Publishing in Edinburgh! I’ve definitely gone through more twists and turns in my career and hobbies than most people. Studying in Edinburgh opened my eyes in ways that only traveling can. I absolutely adored every moment there, and I miss it so much that I even dream about being back in Edinburgh a lot of times.

I didn’t find anything enjoyable about the phase of my life after finishing university. I received an offer letter from a well-established company but never got to start working there (the initiative got shut down by the end of the year). I went through a very chaotic breakup (at least it felt very painful in my head), and I felt completely lost. If I had the maturity then that I have now, I probably wouldn’t have stressed out so much. I would run a marathon (yes, that’s my therapy), and things would have felt great!

Did you wish for something so badly to happen, but it ended up not happening? Was it for good or bad? Comment below or share a link to your post for me to see and give you a shoutout!

Thank you so much for reading this post. Cheers!
